What was your major(s)/degree(s) and where did you go to school?
I graduated from Baylor University with a BA in New Media Advertising and a minor in Entrepreneurship.
Why did you pursue a career in higher education?
I worked and interned at Baylor throughout my college career. After graduating, I knew I wanted a job where I could help people and make a difference in their future. I highly value education and it is great to see people pursuing and achieving their degrees.
What is your favorite part of working for Texas State University?
I like the support that is given from both my team and the university. There are always people who are willing to help or provide training on a variety of topics. Additionally, everyone in my office works tirelessly to help students every day. Being around people who are so passionate and hardworking inspires me to do my job at the best of my ability.
What “words of wisdom” would you like to share with students?
Take advantage of all of the resources and opportunities provided to you at Texas State. Join organizations, get involved at events, and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Likewise, there are several offices on campus that can help you choose a degree, set career goals, and guide you on how to achieve them. Make sure to use your resources to feel as prepared as possible come graduation!
Tell us a random fact about yourself:
I have a passion for rescuing animals. I currently have three dogs that have all had rough starts before getting adopted. Working with them has been both challenging and rewarding and I plan to continue rescuing many more animals in the future.
