Where is your Hometown?
I was born in San Antonio, TX, but moved to Seguin, TX when I was in middle school. I consider Seguin my hometown since I did most of my “growing up” there and my immediate family still lives there.
What was your major(s)/degree(s) and where did you go to school?
I graduated from Seguin High School in 2006. From there I came to San Marcos to attend Texas State University. I graduated in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. I also currently hold a Texas Teacher Certificate for Social Studies grades 4-12.
Why did you pursue a career in higher education?
After graduating, I was unable to obtain a teaching job, but did get a teaching assistant position with Del Valle ISD in Austin. I spent a year there working at their Discipline Alternative Education Program campus. Although, I loved being in the classroom, I decided that an opportunity to work at Texas State (much closer to home) was something worth pursuing with the current job market for teachers. I also felt that it would be a good place for me, because I would still be working in the realm of education.
What is your favorite part of working for Texas State University?
My favorite part about working at Texas State University is being blessed enough to stay in a place that I love so much. This area of Texas is my home and I hope it always will be. I am also honored every day to help students as they make their way through college and pursue their goals.

My biggest pet peeve is when my feet get wet when they are not supposed to be (ex. stepping in water on the floor when it shouldn’t be there).
