The Business Learning Community (formerly known as the freshman interest group or FIG) is part of the Department of Residence Life's Living Learning Program. Activities for the Learning Community are overseen by the McCoy College Academic Advising Center. The group of 8-16 freshmen students have opportunities to block enroll in the same courses and live in the same section of their assigned residence hall. The community has a Peer Assistant (PA) who is an upperclassman in the McCoy College that supports the group and lives on the same floor in the residence hall. The Learning Community offers several professional development activities.
Students must apply to be a part of the Learning Community. To be eligible to apply to the Learning Community you must have been admitted to McCoy College. For a list of other communities please visit Residence Life.

Required activities:
Applicants to the program are reviewed by committee and chosen based on strength of application. A strong applicant: 1) demonstrates an interest in getting involved at Texas State, 2) has stated goals for his/her education at Texas State, 3) is willing to work towards those goals, and 4) is able to tie those goals into his/her reasons for seeking to be a part of the Learning Community program.
