Where is your hometown?
Fort Lewis, Washington
What was your major(s)/degree(s) and where did you go to school?
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2015 and my Master of Arts in Developmental Education in 2018 both here at the best school ever, Texas State University.
Why did you decide to pursue a career in higher education?
I have always loved school and education and believe knowledge equals power so naturally, higher education seemed like a very good fit for me. I enjoy helping students find their passions through education and enjoy showing students that college isn’t as scary or confusing as it may seem.
What is your favorite part of working for Texas State University?
I have interacted with everyone from the first year students to the Dean’s and Professors that have been here for years and everyone is so warm and inspiring. I like how authentic everyone at Texas State is and honestly, you cannot beat the views and outdoor recreation here.
What “words of wisdom” would you like to share with students?
I always encourage students to follow their dreams and don’t be shy when it comes to seeking out help and guidance. Also, get involved on campus! There are so many free events, resources, and benefits associated with being a student. This is truly the best time to make friends, build networks, and experience new things, definitely take advantage of them while they are at such easy access!
